In The Beginning

Our story begins in 2008 when a small group of like-minded Jewish families living in Crouch End started meeting up to run small services together in each others homes.

Over the years we have grown. We have celebrated, grieved, served, and learned together. We’ve shared meals, supported one another through tough times, and discovered new ways of being community that feels relevant to everyday life.

2025 was our b’nei mitzvah year, marked with a joyous weekend of celebrations. We are a fully fledged community of around 110 families. Our Cheder (Chaverim) has 35 children.

Whether you are a regular Shabbat attendee or prefer to join in family events such as our Chanukah and Purim parties, there is something for everyone. You might prefer to join one of our other activity groups such as the Adult Learning Circle or Women’s Rosh Chodesh group. All are welcome- we are still learning and growing as a community. As we look to the future and continue to grow, we are committed to retaining what makes our Chavurahours - a sense of shared values, beliefs and community.

Our Values

We are committed to a modern Judaism that cherishes Jewish tradition and practice with a contemporary interpretation.

We believe in Tikkun Olam, ethical living, social justice and gender equality in all aspects of community and everyday life.

We are committed to building close ties with the wider local community, with groups of all faiths and none.

Rabbi Sandra Kviat

Our community is expertly and warmly led by the wonderful Rabbi Sandra Kviat. Sandra has led the community since 2012 and has an instinctive feel for what makes us tick.

Hailing from Copenhagen, Sandra was ordained as a Rabbi in 2011 at Leo Baeck College. As Denmark’s first female rabbi, she has also worked with the Progressive Jewish community Shir Hatzafon in Copenhagen.
